RF Over Fiber

Introducing the RF Over Fiber System

Air Technology Instruments ’s Analog RF over Fiber (RFoF) product line is part of the Optical Delay Line product group which converts analog RF signals to optical signals and back at 0.1-20 GHz region.

The analog RF input signal is converted into an optical modulated signal, which is then transmitted into a single mode fiber to a remote/separate location. After passing the fiber, the optical signal is converted back into an electrical RF signal.

Any application that needs to connect RF signals to an antenna can benefit from the RFoF systems. This is used for telecom and cellular applications, connecting base stations to multiple remote antennas. VSAT Satellite systems can locate all RF equipment in a central, indoor location, and connect fiber to antennas in a cost effective manner. With fiber as a way to connect RF systems, vehicle based communications can significnatly reduce weight and physical space which is consumed by thick coaxial cables, Heliax or waveguides.

The mechanical dimensions can be customized to suit specific customer applications. RF optic also develops custom units per project with multiple signals delivered on a single fiber.

Air Technology Instruments ’s RFoF systems provides superb performances and an ultra silent operation.
