Optical Delay Line
Introducing the Optical Delay Line
Air Technology Instruments 's analog optical delay line modules (ODL) convert analog RF signals to optical signals and back. The ODL adds an accurate desired time delay of input RF signals at 0.1-20 GHz range in a compact module.
The RF input signal is converted into an optical modulated signal, which is then transmitted into a single mode fiber, creating a fixed time delay. After passing the fiber, the optical signal is converted back into an electrical RF signal. ODL modules with time delays between 0.01 to 300 μsec which can be provided to customers.
The ODL is operated as a standalone unit with no need for any intervention of the operator - it can be also controlled externally from PC.
The ODL is perfect for radar testing, radar calibration and other defense applications. It is also a useful tool for telecommunications testing, simulating a channel delay.
The ODL modules are a turnkey compact solution, which provides superb performances including accurate time delay, no RF attenuation after conversion, -100dBm spurious, and with an ultra silent operation. The ODL modules can be purchased with severed predefined time delay values.
